Coin Images for Identification

Coin Images for Identification

These coins are finds from an archaeological site in Iran. The organization holding them in Iran is interested in their identification.

These coins are surfaces finds from the vast site of Shahr-e Ghor situated to the North of Gonâbâd in southern Khorassan (Iran). In the area of Zuzan-Gonâbad, the remains of five comparable forts attributable to the Parthian period have been identified by Dr. Chahryar Adle. Dating of the forts to the Parthian period is essentially based on thermoluminescence analysis. The identification of these coins, which belong to the Mashhad Office of the National Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization, would contribute to the understanding of the history of this much neglected area. The expected dating for the coins is also the Parthian period.

If you can identify any of the coins, please send the information to Chris Hopkins who will compile and forward it to National Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization.
