Parthia II (Germany)

Hamburg-American Packet Company 1919 - 1921
later renamed Hesperides III and Bertha Fisser


This second German Parthia was a cargo ship launched 1919 for Hamburg America Line; ceded to Britain in 1921 as war reparations and sailed 1921-1937 for Houston & Co. as Hesperides III. Sold to Germany in 1937, renamed Bertha Fisser. On 20 November 1939, the armed merchant cruiser Chitral intercepted the Bertha Fisser which was scuttled to avoid capture.
