New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1896
Abstract: The author, S. G. W. Benjamin, was a U. S. Minister to Persia. He had written an earlier book entitled Persia and the Persians. That volume was intended to give a description of Persia as it was when he lived there. This present volume is a history of Persia, offering a narrative of the most noteworthy characters and events of that ancient empire from its foundation in prehistoric times. It gives attention to the great career of the House of Sassan. Fewer information is presented on the Saracen invasion and the rise of the Sefaveans. He gives information about the character and career of Chosroes Parveez and discusses the quality of Persian military talents and courage. [Preface]

[Author]

"Queen Mousa, Mother and Wife (?) of King Phraatakes of Parthia: A Re-evaluation of the Evidence" (2004)
Mouseion, 2004, tome/ser. 3, vol. 4, p. 35-70.
Abstract: Modern scholars often state that Queen Mousa not only murdered her husband, King Phraates IV of Parthia, but also became co-ruler with, and wife of, her son Phraatakes. This article analyizes Josephus' account of her, drawing attention to its blending of false with credible, and to the probable influence of folk-tale. It also examines the coins on which she is depicted, arguing that they provide no evidence for the alleged marriage to her son or for her supposed political role.
